Liz Cheney and Bill Kristol Launch a New Website: Keep America Safe

Keep America Safe, a website started to provide information for concerned Americans about critical national security issues. Keep America Safe seeks to influence public policy by encouraging dialogue between American citizens and their elected representatives in order to produce legislation and executive action that enhances the national security of the United States.

The Washington Independent ("independent" of what, I'm not sure, but their tagline is "National News in Context"--OK, I'll play along) calls the venture a "new pressure group, complete with a "snarky video that attacks the president for playing golf."

No actually the video points out that Obama has a whole lot of personal downtime for someone whose job is Leader of the Free World, and he somehow finds time for lots of golf (and they also could have added basketball and "date night" with Michelle-O, but didn't) while the country waits to hear about the results of his endless dithering and deliberating about the strategy going forward in Afghanistan. So no, the video doesn't "attack" the president for playing golf. The video "attacks" the president for not doing the work he was elected to do. But he sure is having fun on his off time. Gosh, just last week, as one of Obama's daughters reminded everyone, he had a three-day weekend with the family. I wish I could remember the last time my husband had a three-day weekend.

But I digress.

The WI continues by "attacking" [my characterization] Liz Cheney: "Cheney's constant TV appearances have, so far, been a function of her family name and of the strong possibility that she'll run for office someday. This effort gives TV hosts something else to say when they introduce her. . . ."

Liz Cheney, to my mind, is one of the most intelligent and well-spoken people I see interviewed on TV. The Left ought to be very afraid of this woman, and I'm sure we'll see the lefty attack machine go into full hysteria mode on her as the weeks and months go by. Liz Cheney has everything going for her that the Left mocked Sarah Palin for not having--a great brain as well as an excellent education, and international experience. She received her undergraduate degree from Colorado College and her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. In 2002, Cheney was appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs. She left her post to be part of the 2004 Bush re-election campaign. In 2005, she was appointed Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State For Near Eastern Affairs. Her position made her the second-ranking U.S. diplomat for the Middle East.

But the Left will make her out to be a bimbo trading on "Daddy's" name. Which is hilarious, thinking about our POTUS, who has pretty similar education and experience (although not the brain power--and not the international experience, since his experience was in the Chicago "community") that this woman has.

Oh please, please, you lefty maroons. Please continue to bash Liz Cheney for not having enough experience to comment on TV. They're gonna have to do better than that. Bring it.

Update: Completely predictable. The Liz Cheney hysteria bashing from the Left is in full swing. As I said, Bring it!

Overrated, celebrated witch-columnist for the NYT, Maureen Dowd, writes about Cheney's new venture in her predictably bitchy way. That's OK Maureen, we've come to expect this kind of pap from you on  a daily basis--not that we read it. She writes (and I use the term loosely): The Web site features a daily Willie Hortonish detainee feature, profiling one of the scary swarthy prisoners at Gitmo. And it will also have all kinds of fun reading, like memos by Bush lawyers on enhanced interrogation. (Or, as it’s more commonly known outside the gargoyled gates of Cheneyville, torture.) Tell you what, Maureen Baby, we'll just put one of those cartoonish "scary swarthy" detainees in your back yard. K?)
