Another must-read: the Obama Rolling Stone interview
Here's the link to the article in Rolling Stone that will be in the 15 October issue. The article was written by Jann S. Wenner, the magazine's editor and publisher.
I haven't read this thing yet, but the very first question reveals pretty much everything I need to know about Jann S. Wenner: When you came into office, you felt you would be able to work with the other side. When did you realize that the Republicans had abandoned any real effort to work with you and create bipartisan policy? What pathetic crap, the sort of puffball-type question that's on an intellectual par with, "How awesome is it to be so awesome?"
Ed Morrissey at HotAir has an analysis of the interview: "Rolling Stone's tongue-bath interview with President Obama." Morrissey writes that Jann Wenner "obviously feels a need to intervene in Obama's failing fortunes."
Morrissey points out that Wenner doesn't even ask Zero about the Gulf spill and the lack of response from Obama and his administration that Wenner's own magazine clearly documented. Instead, he asks only why Ken Salazar still has a job. Says Morrissey, "Imagine if Wenner had an exclusive interview with George Bush five months after Katrina and had only asked about Michael Brown being fired." Sigh.
Here's a fitting response to Wenner's "interview" from Op-Toons Review: "Network News EXCLUSIVE: President Obama's Shoes Taste Like Ambrosia." heh
Update on the Rolling Stone interview. Peter Wehner has an article at contentions--"Obama: Embattled, Embittered, and Lashing Out." President Obama is a man of unusual vanity and self-regard. He considers himself to be a world-historical figure who deserves treatment bordering on reverence. . . . When a powerful man like this is successful, it can make him impossible to live with. When a powerful man like this is failing, he can become dangerous.

Bob Woodward's New Book
Bob Woodward's latest book is an expose of the infighting and discord in the West Wing over how to handle the Afghanistan war. There's an article at Andrew Breitbart's Big Government by Jeff Dunetz: "Why Bob Woodward's New Book Should Scare the Hell Out of All Americans."
The revelations about Obama’s naive views on terrorism and his lack of a firm commitment to the Afghan War was nothing really new, they simply confirmed many of the worst fears about our President and the War on Terror. But Obama’s priorities, his desire to place politics before victory, was both surprising and upsetting.
The book details how Obama is not trying to win the war as much as he was desperately trying to placate his progressive base, regardless of the safety of American citizens. At one point the POTUS tells Woodward directly:
“We can absorb a terrorist attack. We’ll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever . . . we absorbed it and we are stronger.”
Dunetz says that one of the reasons for the snail-like pace last fall of the Obama administration for reviewing the Afghanistan strategy was because "Obama seemed more interested in mapping out an exit plan than winning the war." Read the article (and the book) and weep.
Another quote from the book that tells us all we need to know about Obama as commander-in-chief comes from an exchange he had with Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC): Said Obama, "I can't let this be a war without end, and I can't lose the whole Democrat Party." And Afghanistan, as we remember from the endless campaign rhetoric, was Obama's "good war." So he's worried about losing his Democrat base; any indication he has even similar worries about losing American soldiers?
What's truly unbelievable is that the people surrounding Obama either believe, or think they can spin it to look as though they believe, that Obama comes across in this book as "thoughtful and reflective." This is how Steve Luxenberg of the Washington Post spins the "we can absorb another attack" quote: "It shows the reality of being the President of the United States, receiving a stream of intelligence and being responsible for the security of the country." Wow, that's really some mind jujitsu.
The other thing the Left will surely do is shoot the messenger, a la Kathleen Parker's article this morning: "Can a president lead with Woodward watching." She calls Woodward a "human tape recorder," one who "issues history's first draft even as history is still tying its shoes." Well, it seems pretty clear to me that with 16 books to his credit, the Obama administration should have pretty clearly known what they were going to get with Woodward when they gave him access to the "process" going on in the Oval Office.

Christopher Coates Takes the Stand
One day after Congress was disgracing itself with the Colbert clown testimony, former Dept. of Justice voting rights section chief Christopher Coates, a veteran Justice Department attorney, was testifying about the Justice Department's racism scandals. Although Coates was instructed by his superiors not to testify, he did so anyway, claiming whistleblower protection for his testimony.
Coates testified that the Department of Justice maintains a "hostile atmosphere" and "deep-seated opposition to race-neutral enforcement" of the Voting Rights Act.
There's some speculation around the blogosphere that the Stephen Colbert testimony was intended to distract from coverage of Christopher Coates. Quoting from Instapundit: Front page of Daily Caller: Colbert. Drudge led with Colbert until the news of the Klein & Zucker firings came out. Limbaugh led off today talking about Colbert. NRO has covered Colbert at The Corner, but not Coates. Washington Examiner headline: Colbert. Looking around other sites, I see more about Colbert than Coates.
Personally, I don't think these people in Washington have enough on the ball to think up something like that and pull it off. Also, it "explains" why they would do something so infinitely stupid as to invite Stephen Colbert to testify in character as an expert witness. Nope--I think they're just infinitely stupid, no explanation needed, and the two testimonies had nothing to do with one another.
Update. Jim Treacher at The Daily Caller has the news of one of the highlight quotes from the Christopher Coates testimony. He testified that Obama appointee Loretta King, acting head of the Civil Rights Division, ordered Coates to stop asking applicants whether they supported race neutral enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. It would see that if you are WHITE, then you really have no civil rights. Coates said he went to Mississippi to take action under the VRA on behalf of white voters in Noxubee County, MS.
Said Coates, "What I observed on that election coverage was some of the most outrageous and blatant racially discriminatory behavior at the polls committed by Ike Brown and his allies that I have seen or had reported to me in my thirty-three plus years as a voting rights litigator."
We remember the breathless, endless media coverage of the alleged "political" hiring practices at the Department of Justice in the Bush administration. Well, evidently the Obama administration gets a pass on illegal, racist hiring at the DOJ. This Loretta King is a flat out piece of work. Reportedly she is hiring only confirmed liberal attorneys. "Insiders" (read, members of left wing profits like those sponsored by George Soros) only need apply. She is the woman at the DOJ who, along with Asst. Deputy Attorney General Steve Rosenbaum, dismissed the charges of voter intimidation during the 2008 election in Philadelphia in which two members of the New Black Panther Party stood outside the polling place in military-style fatigues and berets, one carrying a nightstick. Michelle Malkin has more about Friday's hearing.

Who the Hell Is Zoe Lofgren?
Last Thursday, proving that Washington, and Congress in particular, really is a clown show that can't be taken seriously, Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D-CA, so what do you expect) invited comedian Stephen Colbert to testify as an "expert witness" before the subcommittee she chairs, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law. The hearing was titled "Protecting America's Harvest." Someone needs to think about protecting our government from idiots like Lofgren.
Quoting from the Washington Examiner: Colbert began his testimony, which was an in-character schtick based on a one-day visit to an upstate New York farm. "This is America," Colbert said. "I don't want a tomato picked by a Mexican." As the hearing went on, Colbert said things like, "I was a cornpacker…cornpacker is a derogatory term for a gay Iowan."
Not all of the subcommittee members were happy with having Colbert testify. Said Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN), "I think using an actor in character to give testimony makes a mockery of the committee process."
The Examiner reports that at the end, Lofgren proclaimed the hearing "helpful." Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? Who the hell is this woman and WHY is she chair of ANYTHING in Congress? Lofgren, 63 years old, has represented the 16th district of California (San Jose) since 1995. She is only the second person to represent the district since its creation in 1963, and has been reelected six times with no substantive opposition.
So what I want to know now is this: who is running against this woman who makes a mockery of Congressional hearings and our American government? Ed Gonzalez, a Marine Iraq vet, is Lofgren's principal challenger in the 2010 elections. Says Libertarian/Republican Gonzalez, "Zoe Lofgren has been in Congress for 15 years and our immigration problems have become worse each year. I think it is time for her to admit failure and retire." Find out where Gonzalez stands on the issues and support his candidacy here.
Drain the swamp, baby. If you feel so inclined, and would like to contact anyone on the House Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law, the website with information about the committee and their contact information is here.

The TEA PARTY. Any Questions?
h/t Liberty Pundits
Update. Doctor Zero at HotAir has an excellent article, "We are paying attention."
This is the last desperate attempt of the Democrats to frighten independents away from the Tea Party movement. Slandering them as nuts or haters didn’t work – it’s too obviously false, and even the Democrats’ media allies were becoming nervous about throwing bombshell charges without evidence. The ignorance smear is a logical choice for a Hail Mary pass, just weeks before the election. It only requires the Left to convince independents that our economy is crumbling due to forces beyond their comprehension, and the rubes waving copies of the Constitution at Glenn Beck rallies don’t understand it, either.
The Tea Party is a large and growing movement that rejects the premise that a morally and intellectually superior government should be given endlessly expanding power over every aspect of our lives. We reject a media-approved narrative that holds the State blameless for its misdeeds, or gives it unlimited credit for its good intentions. We are competent and compassionate enough to manage our own lives, and address our problems through willing cooperation with our neighbors.

We have a president who doesn't get it
. . . on so many levels
Let me close by saying this. Long before America was even an idea, this land of plenty was home to many peoples. The British and French, the Dutch and Spanish, to Mexicans, to countless Indian tribes. We all shared the same land.
Well, there he goes again. . . . spewing nonsense and rewriting history, this time at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. Obvisouly facts don't matter to the Professor. We know from his previous speeches that Zero has a fuzzy view, at best, of history. The British and the French "shared" the same land? Seriously? Along with "countless" Indian tribes? I guess our esteemed president has never heard of the French and Indian War. They didn't fight that war because they were all "sharing" the same land, but instead because the couldn't co-exist peacefully. I honestly wonder, did they even teach American history in Hawaii in the 1970s? And "long before America was even an idea"? Barry, the French and Indian war went on from 1754 to 1763. Do you even know, Barry, when America "became an idea"?
And Mexicans? He emphasizes the word "Mexicans" in the speech (to goofy partisan screaming--oh grow up), but "Mexicans" didn't exist until the formation of the nation of Mexico. But my guess is that if you asked Professor Obama when that happened, he couldn't come within 500 years of the correct date. FYI, Barry, Mexico first became a state independent of Spain in 1821--clearly, "long before America was even an idea," in your mind at least.
Does this maroon have no fact-checkers on his staff? Beyond that, what is the point of such silly rhetoric?
And yes, this is the same speech where he recited a line from the Declaration of Independence, leaving out "endowed by their Creator." Not only did Obama leave out the phrase in his spoken remarks, but the phrase is also left out of the written transcript at whitehouse.gov. Those of us who learned these lines as school kids immediately recognized what he left out. Did Obama himself even know? I'm willing to bet he didn't--or he thinks it's just completely irrelevant. Or he wants to throw red meat to the Right. I can't even guess anymore.
And as someone who has people in her family tree who actually fought in the French and Indian War, I appreciate this quote from one of the commenters at HotAir:
I don’t know that “we” shared much of anything back then. Before “America was even an idea,” life was brutish and short. If you didn’t die from a disease, you died in an Indian attack (even if you were an Indian), from exposure, from starvation or from being eaten by bears. And that’s if you survived being born. This land was settled by people either motivated enough or oppressed enough to get off their asses and leave Europe. Perhaps Kenyan-Indonesians don’t quite understand that.

"Aunt Zeituni":
Poster Child for a Broken Immigration System
"If I come as an immigrant, you have the obligation to make me a citizen." That's a quote from Barack Obama's 58-year-old Aunt Zeituni, living off the dole in the U.S. on a system she's never paid a dime into. What about a family's "obligation" to take care of its own?
She's "broke," she says, although she was able to hire a prominent immigration lawyer in Cleveland. She came to the U.S. in 2000, became ill, she says, and "couldn't afford to leave" when in 2004 she was ordered to leave the country. In 2005 she attended Obama's swearing in as the Junior Senator from Illinois. In 2008 she attended his inauguration. But she says, "Obama did not know my whereabouts." Evidently this family has lying in their genes. She says Obama "never pulled any strings" for her. Of course not.
Here she is at her 2010 immigration court date where her expensive immigration lawyer got the judge to grant her US asylum. So she's a "victim"--why? "I didn't take advantage of the system," she says. "The system took advantage of me." Obama's aunt continues to live in South Boston in public housing, unemployed, and collecting about $700 a month disability. In her interview with a local Boston station, Zeituni seems about as happy to be in this country as her niece-in-law, MicHELLe Obama. She hates the USA but loves the "free stuff"--where have we seen that attitude before?
In the interest of getting this woman off our bloated entitlement rolls, I'm pretty sure U.S. taxpayers would be glad to pay for one last "entitlement" for this woman--a first-class plane ticket back to Kenya.
P.S. So Obama has an aunt living on the dole in South Boston and a half-brother named George Obama living in a box in Kenya. While the lamestream media digs up any dirt they can find on Sarah Palin. You really can't make this stuff up.

White House Having a Fit Over Forbes Article
Dinesh D'Souza has written a new book about Barack Obama titled The Roots of Obama's Rage that is due to be published October 4, 2010.
Forbes Magazine has an article in its current issue by D'Souza--"How Obama Thinks"--that gives a sample of what is coming in the book.
Wowzer, the White House is not happy. WH spokesperson Robert "Giggles" Gibbs sure wasn't laughing when he commented that the D'Souza article in Forbes "represents a new low." New low what, Bob? One wonders if Gibbs said the following with a straight face--that the Forbes "attack" comes at a time when there is "no limit to innuendo" against the president, including the "baseless charges" found in the Forbes article. I'm thinking that George Bush could give Gibbs a little help with his hysterical attitude over the concept of "innuendo" and "baseless" coming from the media. Just thinkin'.
D'Souza's thesis in the article is that Barack Obama is the most antibusiness president in a generation, perhaps in American history: Writes D'Souza, "The Weekly Standard summarizes Obama's approach as omnipotence at home, impotence abroad. . . . The President's actions are . . . bizarre." D'Souza says that he was writing a "psychological theory" of Obama's behavior.
As usual, the lamestream media has come to Obama's defense: Columbia Journalism Review this week called the D'Souza article "a fact-twisting, error-laden piece of paranoia" and "the worst kind of smear journalism--a singularly disgusting work."
So what's the deal? Did Obama's handlers really think he could continue to skate by without any scrutiny forever? Evidently.

"Obama not up to the job,"
White House "Insider" Says
This comes from "a longtime Washington D.C. insider" who is no longer at the White House. So take it with a grain of salt. If what this person says is true, then it would seem, like his wife, that Obama doesn't like his job. This "insider" says that almost immediately after O was sworn in, things began to change, and he showed that he clearly didn't like the work of being President.
Here are some nuggets from the article:
He obsesses over Fox News, and he also watches a lot of TV--like ESPN.
He despises his VP, Joe Biden: "Give the guy a job and get him out of my hair."
He's "scared to death" of Hillary Clinton and obsesses over her almost as much as Fox News.
He gets excited when the conversation turns to sports, but when someone starts talking about Congress or some policy, he turns off. "It's really very strange."
He's not a stupid man, he's just not particularly smart. Bill Clinton--he's a smart guy--"he would run intellectual circles around Barack Obama."
This "insider" says he's (she?--we don't know) been away from the White House for a month, so he doesn't know how bad things are at the White House now, but when he left, "the infighting [was] off the charts."
Like a lot of married people, the Obama's are having "issues. . . .Maybe that is why Obama seems so detached--not so much the stress of the White House, but the stress of personal issues."
This person concludes, "the president is losing it. . . . he is losing whatever spark he had during the campaign. . . . He doesn't seem to have the confidence to do the job of President, and it's getting worse and worse." But "he loves campaigning. He just loves it so much. He really needs the crowds, the cheering, the support of the people."
"Obama is not up to the job of being president. He simply doesn't seem to care about the work involved. You want to know what? Obama is lazy. He really is. And it is getting worse and worse." Looking back, says this individual, Obama wasn't ready to be president [Really? Really??]. "He had never lost a campaign. Everything was handed to him. He really doesn't understand the idea of work--real, hard, get your heart and soul into it work."
Well, who woulda thunk?
Addition. One of my favorite writers at HotAir is a guy who goes by the name of "Doctor Zero." He had this to say this morning, Sept. 18, in a post titled "The Palin Card."
Let me put this bluntly: virtually no one in America gives a damn what Barack Obama says about anything at this point. What could be more predictable, and less interesting, than Obama’s opinion on any given subject? Who wants to contemplate the economic wisdom of a guy who looted the Treasury for a trillion dollars, with less benefit than we could have achieved by stuffing hundred dollar bills into random cereal boxes? Who’s excited to hear about the next plan to convert taxpayer dollars into Democrat campaign funds? Who’s hungry for another hour of tedious excuses about permanently broken markets and the titanic dead hand of George W. Bush? Who wants a lecture on ethical business practices from the titular head of the party that gave us Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters? What use is another hollow foreign-policy speech from a man who sees no global adversary to rival the menace of Arizona? Even Obama’s supporters don’t hear anything he says any more. There’s nothing left to hear.

Nutrition advice from the woman who ate her way
across two continents this summer
Michelle-O has advice for the restaurants: cut the fat.
I have advice for her: STFU. Every time I turned around this summer, there was Moo-chelle, shoving ice cream in her mouth again on yet another vacation. Yet she finger-wags her fat self at the rest of us, telling people that they are too stupid to make their own choices about food, so the government will do it for them. Carrots should be the "default side dish" on the kids' menu.
There's Moo-chelle in the blue dress, ice cream in each fist. My guess is Barry isn't man enough to get one of those away from her. And gee, I don't think those are carrots her own daughter is eating.
This is the woman who has done more for the Spanx industry than any current celebrity, even Oprah. Honey, it doesn't count if it's just all held in with spandex. Look to your own house, woman. Or for that matter, look in the rear-view mirror once in awhile.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
Update. I was wondering, so at her speech yesterday, who was Moo-chell trying to sound most like? Marilyn Monroe? Jackie O? What happened to the Angry Black Woman (TM)? At least she seemed more authentic than this woman with the soft, sweet, sweet voice. Bleh.
Oh, and P.S. The First Whiner, Lady Michelle, hates her job, thinks it's "hell." Doesn't that just figure? And these remarks came long before she was criticized for her Summer Vacation Extravapalooza. What a maroon this woman is. "The White House declined to comment." hahahahahahaha--I'm waiting to hear what Bob Gibbs has to say when they ask him. You just can't make this stuff up.

Somebody tell me where I would be wrong if I said that THIS attitude is what comes from a person being the "beneficiary" of affirmative action all their lives. Michelle Robinson Obama evidently thought she deserved all that "stuff" that was handed to her all her life--the seat at Princeton, the seat at Harvard Law, the $300,000 a year job on the hospital board, and now the job of First Lady of the United States. This woman has to be one of the worst examples of failed opportunity I've ever come across--seriously. The good that Michelle Obama could do with her position--and instead what she chooses to do with it--it's almost obscene.
In an alternate universe, Michelle Obama could have continued to dress like an adult professional instead of like some fat and forty-ish fashion diva. Here she is before she became First Lady. She looks wonderful here! What a waste of time spent over the past couple of years, trying to be something she clearly is not. How refreshing it would have been if she had been content to look like herself as she is here, roll up her sleeves, and get to work for the country of which she was "finally proud." Who knows, she might even have found that she liked the job.
h/t on the pic from a commenter at my favorite website, Michelle Obama's Mirror's Blog.
Update on the update. First the White House "declined comment." Now the White House is denying the report. It came from a biography that was written by French journalists "in cooperation with Ms. Bruni," who is of course the French First Lady, Carla Bruni. So I guess the White House was calling Carla Bruni a liar. Then later in the day, a spokesperson for the French embassy in Washington said that Bruni "distances herself completely from the content of the book." And, "The words attributed to the First Lady of the United States were never said."
OK, so I guess MicHELLe loves being FLOTUS, probably kinda the same way she always loved her country. And probably the same way that we love her in the job as well.
Update redux. The latest news is that the author of the book on Carla Bruni-Sarkosy stands by his account of MicHELLe's complaints about her life in the White House. However, he says the exchange was made in a "jokey" tone. I don't really care whether she was joking or serious. Michelle Obama is simply not the kind of person I could ever like, and I think she's doing a lousy job in an important position. Where she got the idea that she is some sort of fashion diva is simply beyond me. She could have squashed that kind of coverage of herself, but instead she's played it to the hilt. A pure waste, IMO.

911 Freedom Rally Draws 40,000
Chances are you didn't hear about the 911 Freedom Rally that was held at Ground Zero on Saturday, since NO ONE in the lamestream press is covering this thing. 40,000 people, and they're invisible to the media. This was a rally of remembrance, designed for people who wanted to stand in solidarity with the 911 families and "declare our iron determination that no victory mosque will be built on their graves." The event was reported by Pamela Geller, blogger at Atlas Shrugs.
Speakers at the event included Geller, former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton, Andrew Breitbart, and Geert Wilders, right-wing Liberterian Member of the Dutch Parliament and keynote speaker. Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was scheduled to speak at the rally, but evidentlyran away from this issue like a frightened little girl changed his mind.
Oh, and P.S. Saturday, September 11, 2010 was designated for Muslims around the world as International Burn the American Flag Day. "We call upon Muslims around the world to rise up and defend Islam, the Muslims and the Quran. Let us call for the Shari’ah to be implemented wherever we are. WE CALL UPON ALL MUSLIMS IN EVERY COUNTRY JOIN IN THIS DEMONSTRATION IN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES BURNING THE FLAGS OF AMERICA AND ITS ALLIES." Allies? Do we still have any? Thanks, Obama.
Update. In an article by Bernie Quigley at The Hill ("Unremembering 9/11"), Quigley says that Obama was at "the wrong place at the wrong time" and that his "unremembering" and desire to "move on" from 9/11 will mar his presidency. Obama went to the Pentagon to give his 911 speech, sending his Vice President to speak in New York. I dunno. Is it just me, or does it seem like Our Man Barry "voted present" by going to the Pentagon instead of New York, taking the easy duty on Saturday? And of course, he had to instruct us in his speech that "as Americans we are not--and never will be--at war with Islam." Great. OK, Barry, but putting semnantics aside, it sure as hell looks to me like somebody's at war with us.

Wilders is the Dutch politician who is under constant threat of death for his anti-Muslim views, stemming from his short internet film Fitna, which, among other things, denounced the Koran as a fascist book that inspires terrorism. The film includes media clips and newspaper cuttings showing or describing acts of violence and/or hatred by Muslims. Wilders himself described the film as "a call to shake off the creeping tyranny of Islamization." Fitna was released in March of 2008. The text of Geert Wilder's in New York speech is here.
The rally was hosted by the Freedom Defense Initiative (FDI) and the human rights organization, Stop Islamization of America (SIOA). Pamela Geller, founder and executive director of SIOA, has come out with a statement condemning Barack Obama's blessing of the Ground Zero Mega-Mosque.
Pamela Geller appeared on Giraldo Rivera's show on Fox News on Saturday night, which she characterized as Geraldo's Hit Job. Typical of the lamestream media's strategies in trivializing views on the Right, Rivera dismissed the rally attendance as "1,500 people." Good grief, I don't think so. Look at the pictures.
People in this country had better wake up. Islamic law has been officially adopted in Britain, with sharia courts given powers to rule on Muslim civil cases. Of course they want to bring sharia law to the U.S.
After his speech at the Pentagon, the president then spent the latter part of the morning at Ron Brown Middle School in Northeast Washington, helping paint the school's multi-purpose room as part of the day of service. That's what he wants to make 911 into: a day of service, not a day of remembrance, to "flush 911 down the memory hole." It ain't gonna happen, Barry.
Will someone please tell this moroon that even if it's only a photo op, you don't paint in a white shirt and dress shoes. What a dumbass this guy is. Notice how there's nobody near this guy except the person with the camera.

Obama's Friday Presser Was a Snoozefest
Snore. If you missed it, you missed nothing. Why Zero felt compelled to do this press conference is anybody's guess. Frankly, our Man Barry's affect gets flatter every day. I've never seen a politician who had less apparent enthusiasm for his job. In an hour and seventeen minutes--he had nothing new to say.
Well, except that health care costs aren't going to go down with ObamaCare. He used his favorite logical fallacy several times: the Straw Man. Will someone please tell this guy the meaning of logical fallacy? Extending coverage to 30 million more Americans with health care--"I never said it was going to be free!" Huh. Imagine that. And remember the thousand times or so we heard that ObamaCare would bend down the cost curve? Well, not anymore, as he concedes, "Bending the cost curve on health care is hard to do." Yeah, champ, kinda like closing Gitmo has been a little bit harder to do while sitting behind the Oval Office desk than it was out on the campaign trail. What a maroon.
Mary Katharine Ham at the Weekly Standard has a synopsis of the entire presser.

Obama's Disapproval Rating: Lowest Evah
From Rasmussen, for Thursday, Sept. 9. Forty-seven percent strongly disapprove of Barack Obama's performance in his role as president. Twenty-three percent strongly approve. Oops. Considering that Zero started out after his inauguration with a plus thirty approval rating, this guy's numbers have dropped like a hot rock.

The Launch of RIGHTNETWORK
(all that's right with the world)
This new website that was launched on Tuesday ought to make the Left's head explode. Here's how RIGHTNETWORK describes itself: "Welcome to the digital water cooler. where right-minded people like you can join the national conversation, or just sit back and enjoy being part of a vibrant community."
Here's how one leftist website "reviews" the new site: The Right Network is a media attempt to give credibility to right-wing hate and fear-mongering, conservative bigotry, and Republican talking points. Cool. RIGHTNETWORK, after less than 24 hours, was found by this reviewer to have been a "flop." With philandering poster boy Kelsey Grammer as its mascot and money source, the Right Network, whose tagline is 'All that's right with the world,' is exactly what's wrong with the world, and especially, wrong with America.
Yeah, that free speech thing is a bitch, ain't it? It must suck for the Left that when you push so hard, the entire culture shifts under your feet.

"They talk about me like a dog." --Really, Barry?
What a target rich environment this man is for the blogs. 2012, baby!
As a commenter at my favorite blog, Michelle Obama's Mirror's Blog, reminds us: "If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch."
Boo-freakin'-hoo, you whiner. Yes, Barry, it's ALL about you. Insulting dogs everywhere in his recent remarks, our Man Barry thinks his opponents talk about him like a dog. Even though I have no idea what that remark means, I would tell Barry this: I've got news for you, pal. I certainly would NOT talk about a dog the way I talk about you. I have 'way too much respect for dogs. Plus, his opponents? All he has on his side is NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, NPR, the NYT, the Washington Post, the LA Times, most of Hollywood, CNN . . . oh, boo hoo. He also once had a majority in the House and the Senate, but the November 2010 elections will take care of that.
Honestly, I think this clown is going off the rails. If you've been on vay-cay for the better part of the summer, don't these kinds of dark circles usually go away? Instead, our Man Barry looks worse after his summer off than he did at the beginning.
There's more of the speech here from First Bitch, Obowser, where he works that car/ditch/"I'm not giving back the keys" metaphor AGAIN. This is the most unpresidential presentation I've ever heard from any POTUS in my lifetime. The guy sounds unhinged. He's a self-pitying punk, and when he goes into that fake preacher voice that he uses on this audience, it makes me want to puke on my own shoes.
Maybe he looks so bad because of all the time he's had to spend this summer with Moo-chelle the Angry Black Woman (TM). Who could really blame him for looking like a sad piece of crap, having to spend the summer with her? Seriously, though, he eats up this campaigning stuff like Moo-chelle eats up ice cream, and he'd probably be happy out on the campaign trail 24x7. Too bad, evidently no one read to him the job description for POTUS before he took the job.
Commenters (aka "lapdog" media) are pointing out our Man Barry's "more aggressive tone" in the speech he gave to his sycophant union buddies at a Labor Day rally in Milwaukee today:
"They’re betting that between now and November, you’ll come down with a case of amnesia," Obama said. "They think you’ll forget what their agenda did to this country. They think you’ll just believe that they’ve changed. These are the folks whose policies helped devastate our middle class and drive our economy into a ditch. And now they’re asking you for the keys back."
Are you kidding me? That's an "aggressive" tone? Oooooh, the Right has just got to be shaking in their shoes over that one.

Plus for the love of God, will someone PLEASE find this guy a new metaphor--"driving our economy into the ditch." How many times has he used that one? The Best. Orator. Evah. Those keys aren't yours to give back, you loser. One of these days someone is going to bitch-slap you and take those keys away. You whiny little punk. You weak little man.
And Barry? Lay off the dog comparisons, will you? Every dog I know has more class than you do. Bow-wow.

Update. Doug Powers at michellemalkin.com says he takes back everything he said this summer; he liked Barry better when he was still on vacation. Heh.
Update #2. Some bloggers think these remarks from Obama indicate the beginning of "the great unraveling."
From a blog called "Hindenblog" comes this: "I have said in writing that I fear that Mr. Obama . . . the deepest pathology ever to inhabit the White House . . . will unravel while in office." I think I pretty much agree with this blogger. Barry thinks the "powerful interests" are out to get him. Huh? You mean powerful interests like organized labor? The Association of Trial Lawyers? The Washington lobbyists who have never been more influential than they are right this minute in Obama's administration? Jeeze. There's medication he could take for that sort of paranoia. One of the commenters at HotAir says this guy makes Nixon look sane.
Never get in the way of someone who is self-destructing. Keep talkin' out there, Barry.
Update #3. This is from Ed Lasky at American Thinker: "The most thin-skinned, whiny, name-calling and weak President EVER. We see the true character and personality in gaffes - when he is not plugged into the teleprompter or reading off the prepared remarks."
Update #4. One of my favorite blogs, Seraphic Secret, gives Mr. Zero this advice: never, ever go off the teleprompter, because you sound like this:

A new website launched: THE BLAZE
Jim Treacher says this is "the conservative HuffPo." This is a site just launched by Glenn Beck with the help of a dedicated team of writers, journalists, and video producers. "Our goal is to post, report, and analyze stories of interest on a wide range of topics from politics and culture to faith and family."

A fascinating photo
Here's a fascinating photo that I found at Gateway Pundit. This photo was taken at a holy Quds Day rally in Tehran. "Quds," as we recall from the Obama administration's counterterrorism advisor John Brennan, is the Islamist name for Jerusalem. You can see the little boy there in front with his toy gun. I guess it's a toy. The Statue of Liberty in the background there is being hung in effigy. Who knows what the arabic words say that are written on the Israeli "coffin." Of course most of these "brave" people have their faces covered.
Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad launched an angry attack on the "doomed" US-brokered Middle East peace talks, while he urges Palestinians to continue armed resistance to Israel. While these peace talks were taking place in Washington, four Israeli settlers were shot dead when Hamas gunmen opened fire on a car along the main road to the West Bank city of Hebron.
Israeli leader Binyamin Netanyahu and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas met for talks in Washington last week. The Obama administration is saying that a peace deal could be achieved "within a year." How many times have we been down this road?
